This piece is inspired by the old tales and beliefs of black cats and their association with the occult and witches. For centuries, black cats have been believed to bring bad luck and to be attracted to black magic. In my eyes, black cats are a symbol of feminity and a reminder of how women were treated by the church; accused of witchcraft, objectified, etc. The orchids in this piece serve as the symbol of beauty and grace, and the sacred womanhood.
